A fantasy gem is the combination of a faceted and a carved gem. This is the first fantasy gem I've cut. I still need a lot more practice at carving and using the tools by hand. There are very few videos out there on fantasy gem cutting. I hope this video is a help to those who wish to facet and carve their own gems. Best Wishes Cliff

If you're a gem cutter you should be able to find all the information in this video to facet this beautiful gem. This a very easy design to cut. Best Wishes Cliff.

The final result is awesome. Really enjoyed watching. So how much would say this 3 carat gem would be worth. Thanks again
Oh, that must be the part of the tool. lol
At 6:54, what is the darkness inside?
That is absolutely the coolest thing I’ve ever seen!
Cliff another great video and a beautiful stone. Were did you get your settings from, I presume online but what are they called or who is the supplier I am going nuts trying to find out where to get them from.
Beautifully done. Love the design! Is it a 64 or 96 index design?
I like the eye gem, but that second brilliant square is fabulous, and my preference. I'm happy to see another of your videos. Your videos got me into faceting during the pandemic.
Thanks. I like both gems. The eye gem has more facets, and the other has less. Often less facets means more brilliance.
a lovely design for a beautiful woman. good job, thank you for sharing ♥️ wow! then i see the finished product. i just want to throw it out there for you. let me know if you are looking for a second wife, lol!
Thanks. Lol, faceting for one wife takes enough of my time.
she is a very lucky woman. i wish you both the best ❤
Nice stone, I do like a square cut gem and its a very different cut on one. Nice work 2x👍
Thanks
Great .. ....
Thanks
Cliff another great video and a beautiful stone. Were did you get your settings are they custom made?
Thanks...I bought the settings online.
Great Design Cliff. Awesome looking gemstone and a great looking ring. I have no doubt your wife loves it.
Thanks. My wife likes most of the gems I facet for her.
Eye designs are most of my favorites 😍
Eye desgns are my fav design also.
Just a fantastic beautiful cut.... amazing.😊🤗😘❤
Love your work in cutting and placing gems in the set.....❤....U.S.A😊
Niceeeeeeee......❤🤗
I could watch your stone cutting a day.......♦️...........❤️...........😊
Thanks...I would like to facet more when I retire.
Nice work. What do use for pre polishing and polishing? Thanks
Thanks. Copper discs using a 8000 diamond grit on the pre polish and a 50,000 diamond grit on the final polish.
@@VintageTimeGems thanks for the information 👍
You should record your videos in 4K, they look great but 4K would REALLY do them justice!
One day when I get a new computer and a better camera I will do that.
I always enjoy your cutting and videos, but I am just not into synthetics.
Thanks. I can understand why many people don't like synthetics. My preference was always natural, but over the years with the cost and the lack of quality material synthetics have their place in the world of faceting. I would love to be faceting real pink diamonds or sapphires, but they are out of my price range.
@@VintageTimeGems Yes, I totally understand. Only kings can afford to buy a real pink diamond. You are my favorite gem cutting channel. I also like Bopie's channel, and another guys channel from the USA. All of you have both shows on cutting naturals, and some with synthetics. How far are you from Rubyvale? They have some free collecting sites over there, or maybe you could wrestle Tim, for a sapphire, hahaha. Anyways I love your shows, you are the best.
❤ very good stones 👍👍👍👍🌏👍💎
Thanks
Looks good, Mate!
Thanks
nice work mate
Linda facetas nessa peça.
Thanks
Absolutely beautiful!!! It is great to see your work in my feed. I have missed it. I hope to be back to cutting soon. In the process of buying a house at the moment.
Thanks Tam. When your in your new home you can set up the gem cutting room.
Lovely looking stone and, as usual, a beautiful job of cutting.
Thanks John.
Beautiful job Cliff and that is a lovely CZ colour. Thanks for sharing
Thanks Jeff
Good to see you mate. Hey I am wondering if you have cut any Helenite yet. If you don't know what it is it's manmade out of the volcanic ashes from Mount St. Helens. It has a mhos of 7-7.5. Mine is a lush green and i don't care for green. I bought some cut stones out of it because I wanted to see it. My clients love the stuff. You might give it a peek. Cheers
Yep, I have faceted Helenite. Made a video on it years ago (Volcanic gems). Hard to polish as it really Obsidian (molten glass). I'm not a fan of cutting any type of glass.
wow it sure has a lot of fire
Thanks Ray.
Juneau Alaska loves your channel , my grand father cut gems and I was always fascinated at his skills, ps enter the Jaws moment
Beautiful expert work! 🧙🏻♂️
Thanks
Awesome faceting. What’s the value of the final piece?
Hey cliff, I live in North West Victoria do you of there any kind of gemstones in my area? Even agates is be happy with! Hahah

The small rant was amazing @14:48 I related to the feeling of "at a certain point you're on your own from here"
Hello sir I wont to learn how to facet gem I am in nigeria.
protip - if you don't want to buy expensive CA glue accelerator, baking soda and distilled water work extremely well. the water, itself, is an accelerator - so don't just toss baking soda on your gem. also, keep your glue in the fridge in a ziplock bag (bonus points if you through a couple moisture-absorption packs from other packaging) and it will last a lot longer and not seize up on you in the bottle. take it out of the fridge about 30min before you need to use it.
My first moisannite was a one 6.5mm round cut I bought in 2005 for US $200. Bought some cheap green hue stones from India in 2018 but sizes and weights were not standard. Really great in 2024 to buy nice clear relatively colorless 6.5 mm, 8mm and larger for $12.50 to $80 from Chinese sources. Even found a 9mm 3.5 carat cushion cut for $55. Only less expensive stones of interest now are lab grown ruby, sapphire and pink sapphire. No good reason to use CZ with these mohs 9 to 9.25 stones being so affordable today. Good video. Good info
My father John Muir wrote the very first "idiot guide" (for fixing VWs)
Thank you for a very informative discourse.
are you a faceter or a collector?
Love this sturdy as a Land Rover machine, what could go wrong
I got a cut pink spinel from Tanzania, which was described not as 'silk' but as 'velvet' ... however, it was exceedingly cheap, and that 'velvety' quality is not something that I had any examples of, so what the hell, I spent the ten bucks (AUD) and got it.
